Yury is a Senior Project Associate supporting Hester Street with data analysis, data visualizations, and other online tools. With her GIS and user experience design background, Yury is interested in building user-friendly products/visualizations for communities to access and participate further in planning. She believes in human-centered design driven and data-informed approaches to listen and address the needs of marginalized communities and create inclusive spaces.
Before joining Hester Street, Yury was most recently at NYC Emergency Management, where she provided data and maps before, during, and after city-wide emergencies. She also built online tools such as a community risk assessment dashboard for hazard mitigation and urban risk reduction planning purposes. She has over five years of experience in Geographic Information Systems. Yury graduated from The George Washington University with a BA in International Development and a double minor in Geography and GIS. Outside of work, she enjoys trying different foods and caring for her plants.
