Hester Street is thrilled to have been selected as one of sixty New York City arts and cultural organizations to participate in Race Forward’s Racial Equity in the Arts Innovation Lab, a yearlong training program to improve racial equity in the arts and culture sector. Race Forward: The Center for Racial Justice Innovation has a 40-year legacy of racial justice advocacy, bringing a systemic analysis to complex race issues. As part of this training, Hester Street staff members Nisha Baliga and Julia Lindgren will spend the next year developing skills and strategies for interrupting racial inequity in the workplace and to positively affect our audiences, stakeholders and constituencies.
