Project Renewal Third Street Shelter Yard Renovation

Hester Street (HST) designed and oversaw renovations to convert an underutilized lot adjacent to Third Street Shelter as a welcoming and productive green space for Project Renewal’s clients and shelter residents. The yard is used as a gathering place and extension of Project Renewal’s horticulture therapy and wellness programs. Renovations include a greenhouse, raised planting beds, permeable paving and covered seating area. HST conducted a series of visioning sessions with shelter residents and staff to inform the design and programming of the lot and managed build-out of the space.
