A night of inspiration and music!
Please join us to celebrate Hester Street and transformative planning, design and development by and for the people. Help us honor these superstars for social justice:

Brownsville Community Justice Center
The Brownsville Community Justice Center works to reduce crime and incarceration, and strengthen community trust in justice in central Brooklyn. We recognize their innovative work with young people to build community and create pathways out of poverty. We celebrate our partnership on multiple place-based projects to promote economic development and community well-being in Brownsville.

BCJC will be introduced by Rasmia Kirmani-Frye, President of the Fund for Public Housing.

The Center for Health Equity
The mission of the Center for Health Equity is to strengthen and amplify the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s work to eliminate health inequities, which are rooted in historical and contemporary injustices and discrimination, including racism. We recognize the Center for Health Equity’s municipal leadership in racial and social justice, their support of community power, emphasis on agency accountability, commitment to diversity and importance placed on ensuring data collection and research is a community-informed practice. We celebrate our partnership with the Center for Health Equity and look forward to continuing to lead neighborhood dialogues on health equity and justice.

The Center will be introduced by Jacqueline Ebanks, Executive Director of the NYC Commission on Gender Equity.

Linda Sarsour
Linda Sarsour is a Brooklyn-born Palestinian Muslim American racial justice and civil rights activist. She is the co-founder of MPower Change and was one of the national co-chairs of the Women’s March on Washington. We recognize her activism on issues of immigration, racial justice, criminal justice reform and intersectionality in the fight for gender equity. And we celebrate her roots in Sunset Park.

Linda will be introduced by NYC Council Member Brad Lander.

With music by the legendary DJ Bobbito Garcia a.k.a. Kool Bob Love!
