Remy Chong (she/her) earned her Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from Rutgers University, and will receive her Masters in Landscape Architecture through an accelerated +1 Program at the university. As a student, she is drawn to both biophilic and social justice design, and seeks to enhance community access and engagement with the natural environment. During her undergraduate studies, Remy worked at various studios where she supported design for projects focused on building community resiliency, nature-based playscapes, watershed planning, phytoremediation, and tropical resiliency. She served as the Student Chapter NJASLA President (New Jersey American Society of Landscape Architecture), and was awarded the ASLA Student Honors Award in recognition of her design work. Remy is a recipient of both the NJ Education Foundation Scholarship and Master Gardener Howard Bodner Scholarship; she also earned an independent research grant to study in Japan in the summer of 2024.
Most recently, Remy worked as a spatial designer at AIR Collaborative, where she worked to reimagine a parking lot into a universally accessible garden for both the disabled community of New Brunswick, and in hopes of connecting Rutgers students with green spaces that would otherwise require transportation. Remy also has experience as a horticultural therapist, and has previously curated an indoor multi-sensory garden design for senior residents in a rehabilitation center. She looks forward to fostering connections with and learning from community members and mentors, and deepening her experience with community-based projects, social & environmental justice, and urban planning.
