Thank you to everyone who joined us for a brilliant and inspiring evening in Brooklyn on Thursday, June 13th. Nearly 400 advocates for neighborhood justice showed up to celebrate community-driven futures and self-determination.
A very special thanks to our honorees for all that you do for the city and for your neighborhoods: ARTs East New York, Inc., Brooklyn Public Library and NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams. Thanks to NYC Council Member Antonio Reynoso, Ibrahim Abdul-Matin and Jose Lopez for helping us recognize these leaders. To our sponsors, supporters and host committee members – thank YOU for making sure it was an evening to remember. Thanks to DJ Bobbito Garcia aka Kool Bob Love for setting just the right musical vibe and to the dancers of D.R.E.A.M. Ring for giving us an incredible performance.
Here’s to another year of cities shaped by the people! And, to quote Jumaane in his remarks, “Let’s make sure all communities have input on what this city looks like because the truth of the matter is, this city will always be changing but that does not mean people have to be kicked out of their own neighborhoods.”
See some pictures from the event here. Until next year!
