Hester Street (HST) co-chaired the Parks, Open Space and Recreation Working Team of the Chinatown Working Group (CWG), a community-based planning initiative for the future of Chinatown in New York City. The CWG was formed in 2008 to identify common goals for addressing issues including but not limited to affordability, preservation, revitalization and the social and economic wellbeing of families, seniors and young people. HST worked with Asian Americans for Equality (AAFE) and CAAAV to develop a process for community involvement in the working group and led meetings around improving parks and open space access.
